What is it?
Dundee Draws is a live, friendly, single-round art competition for youth and adult artists! Artists will be arranged in a circle at 50th & Underwood and will have 30 minutes to draw a provided subject at the center of their art circle. Judges will select one winner each from the youth and adult rounds. Competing artists will have the opportunity to win gift cards from local art supply stores, and have their art displayed in the windows of local merchants along Underwood Avenue. Paper and drawing boards will be provided. Limited art supplies will be available on-site, so we ask each artist to bring their own medium (crayons, colored pencils, pastels, etc.).

Only 12 slots are available per age division, so sign up soon! Registration is required and will close on August 20th, or after 12 artists sign up in each age division. The winners of the adult and youth rounds (1st, 2nd, and 3rd) will receive $75, $50, and $25!

Dundee Draws 2024 Judges
We are excited to announce our esteemed judges for this year's Dundee Draws: Eduardo Gardea and Ilaamen Pelshaw. Both accomplished visual artists, Eduardo and Ilaamen bring unique perspectives and rich experiences to the judging panel. Their commitment to storytelling and representation in art will help highlight the incredible talent from our community. Learn more about their inspiring work below!
Eduardo Gardea
Eduardo was born in Texas but raised in Nebraska, which influences his work. He is a self-employed visual artist whose work ranges from painting on canvas, wood, glass, and public facing murals to installation/interactive art. Utilizing a contemporary art foundation, Gardea’s vision as an artist enables him to communicate modern and historic stories of both personal and societal struggles and victories. Gardea intends to update the historical and modern day portrayal of those who have been denied involvement in mainstream economic, political, cultural, and social activities.
Asking what it means to bear witness to the untold stories of the underrepresented, Eduardo’s work raises immigrant, indigenous, and blue collar people from their traditional confinement at the lower rungs and peripheral edge of society by highlighting their perseverance through cycles of oppression and failures of democracy.
